The Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission (ANSIEC) has declared the results of the state’s local government elections it conducted on Saturday with the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) winning all the 21 local council chairmanship seats.
The commission’s chairman, Genevieve Osakwe, announced the results in Awka late Sunday.
According to Osakwe, APGA also won the councilorship positions in each local government area, as confirmed at the ward level.
Describing the election as the fairest, she emphasized that the commission meticulously collated and analyzed the results to ensure accuracy.

During the announcement, she detailed the total scores of the APGA candidates, declaring them winners based on the highest votes cast.
While commending citizens of Anambra for their strong turnout, Osakwe expressed gratitude to security agencies for maintaining peace and order throughout the process.
She stated: “This is to affirm the result of the chairmanship and councilorship election held on September 28, 2024. The commission carefully collated and analyzed the results to ensure that there were no mistakes.
“We ensured all scores and parties were announced at the polling units yesterday. We are here today to affirm the results as recorded. The election held at all polling units across Anambra State on September 28 was free, fair, and credible.”
