Although collation of results has been concluded in 19 of the 21 Local Government Areas of Anambra State, the final results of the election have not been declared.

Voters across the state went out on Saturday to elect their next governor.

A total of 18 candidates contested the election, which was almost disrupted by technical glitches and apathy in some areas.

However, during the final collation at the head office of the Independent National Electoral Commission in Awka, Dr. Miicheal Otu, a lecturer at the University of Calabar, who served as the Returning Officer for Orumba North local government, said there was no election in the LGA.

He said he was forced to sign a result.

“I am traumstised; if not for God, I would not have survived. I had a terrible experience in this outing.

“The police officer turned me to his boy. Even they monitored me like a criminal. They even could not allowed me to urinate. I did not believe in the results I was forced to sign,” he said.

He alleged that Comfort Omoruyi, the Electoral Officer of the area, compounded the issues by compromising herself.

However, the EO countered Otu, accusing the local government returning officer of not knowing how to handle his responsibility.

“He said he is a professor of law, yet he is not intelligent and he does not know anything ” she said.

However, the state returning officer =, Prof. Florence Obi, acknowledged that she received a distress call over the situation, saying she instantly informed the Commissioner of Police about it and he swung into action.

She said they will look into the matter accordingly.

After accepting results of other LGAs, Obi announced that there would be a meeting over the situation at Orumba North.

She invited some electoral officials and party agents to the conference room at the INEC office for a meeting on how to find a solution to the standoff.

The outcome of the meeting is highly likely to determine whether a winner will be declared tonight.

From the available results, Charles Soludo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) is leading in 17 LGAs, while Senator Ifeanyi Uba of Young Progressives Party (YPP) and Mr Valentine Ozigbo of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) won in one LGA each.

Election did not hold in Ihiala LGA.
