Former governor of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Prof Charles Soludo, has emerged the candidate of Governor Willie Obiano-led faction of All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) for November 6, 2021, Anambra State governorship election.
Soludo emerged flagbearer of the party after defeating three other contestants at the factional party primary election held in Awka, Anambra State capital.
He scored a total of 740 votes out of the 792 votes cast in the election.
Soludo was followed by Emma Ezenwakwo, who scored 41 votes and Damian Okoro, with seven votes and ThankGod Ibe, who scored four votes.
The election was conducted by team of APGA national officers led by Sampson Segun Olalaye.
Speaking after emerging candidate of the party, Soludo commended the delegates for voting overwhelmingly for him.
He said “Anambra is APGA and APGA is Anambra”, urging them never to go back to the era of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Meanwhile, the Jude Okeke-led APGA faction has fixed July 1, 2021, for its own primary.
The faction had earlier announced the suspension of Soludo.
