Anambra 2021: “Thunder fire me, if you’re not liberated”, vows aspirant

An aspirant in Anambra State 2021 governorship election has vowed to liberate the state, even with his “life” – swearing he’d rather face the wrath of thunder than fail.

Johnbosco Onunkwo is to stand election on the platform of All Progressives Congress.

He spoke to his supporters at the Johnbosco Onunkwo Foundation, Awka shortly before declaring to contest for position at the APC’s secretariat on Friday.

“It is time for a servant leader to enter the government house and if I am elected, all of you will be liberated. If I don’t do that, let thunder fire me.

“I have entered a covenant with you. This is beginning of liberation; this is beginning of emancipation. Remember you have a covenant with Johnbosco Onunkwo.

“Every party man and woman will be liberated if I enter Government House and if there is no money, I will devote my security vote to the party.

“I swear with my life, God knows my heart, God knows my source and God knows where I am coming from.

“Remember your children, remember your future, remember that things are hard and that is why we need a servant leader that must be truthful, loyal and honesty to us,” he said.

According to him, the day APC ticket is given to him would mark the start of the party to occupy Agu Awka Government House.

Responding, the state party chairman, Basil Ejidike assured that the party would conduct credible, free and fair primaries to produce its flag bearer, without the imposition of any candidate on members.

“I am committed to ensuring that APC take over the government of Anambra. Whatever that had happened in the past cannot be repeated in the state again. We cannot compromise our chances for any reason this time.

“APC today is not of yesterday. We have left Egypt for the Promised Land,” he said.
