Former Nigerian champions, Kano Pillars, have shortlisted former internationals, Emmanuel Amuneke and Salisu Yusuf for the position of technical adviser.
Other coaches shortlisted by the technical committee are Busari Hakeem Ishola, former Katsina United coach, Henry Makinwa, Erol Akay and former Enyimba and Wikki Tourists coach, Usman Shareef Abd’allah.
The Media Officer of the club, Rilwanu Idris Malikawa, said 25 coaches had applied for the plum job.
He also said the shortlisted coaches are expected to arrive in Kano on August 31 to be interviewed by the technical committee on Wednesday, September 1.
Malikawa said all necessary arrangements for the accommodation of the applicants have been made by the management of the club.
A reliable source in Kano has confided in Daily Trust that the two Kano indigenes, Salisu Yusuf and Usman Abd’allah are highly favoured to land the job.
While Yusuf is a former coach of Kano Pillars, Abd’allah will be having his first stint with the ‘Masu gida’ boys, if he is appointed.
Former Barcelona Star, Emmanuel Amuneke, who won the world U-17 championship with the Golden Eaglets in 2015 and had a brief spell as coach of Tanzania is another strong contender for the position.
Kano Pillars had announced that only coaches with CAF ‘A’ licence will be considered for role of technical adviser in the club.
The decision to hire a new technical adviser was taken after Kano Pillars ended the 2021 season without a continental ticket.
The former technical adviser, Coach Ibrahim Musa led the ‘Masu gida’ boys to finish the NPFL season in sixth position behind Akwa United, Rivers United, Enyimba FC and Nasarawa United.
