A former senator representing Ekiti Central Senatorial District, Adefemi Kila, has advised Nigeria to implement local content policy.
Kila, who gave the advice at the event yesterday, dismissed the notion that Nigerian engineers had not done enough for the country as “untrue”.
He said: “As President of Federation of Construction Industry formerly known as Federation of Civil Engineering Contractors where it was dominated by foreigners, another body known as Nigerian Indigenous Contractors, with the merger of the last two, Federation of Construction Industry was born.
“Nigerian contractors are now able to do those things that the foreigners use to do. I want to the federal and state government to continue to patronize Federation of Construction Industry like never before and make sure they are paid as at when due because they don’t have any means of getting money other than the banks. But their counterparts who are foreigners use to go back to their partners to get a back-up from their banks.
