The Commander said “Our actionable and very credible intelligence technique yielded these achievements.

“Over the months, our crime statistics table revealed activities of syndicates that are terrorising shop owners by posing as genuine customers, mostly at the opening of shopping activities and at the closing hours where shop owners will be rushing to close.

“They pretended to be customers, pointing at products and then parked the victims’ goods, cash and phone and then vanished.

“Musbau Saheed Ganiyu ran out of luck in one of his operations at Erin-Osun area where he tricked a POS terminal operator to withdraw a large sum of money and attempted to jump on a waiting motorbike.

“The bike man sped up, noticing that nemesis had caught up with them, by leaving Musbau Ganiyu behind and he escaped on foot to a nearby bush. The Amotekun motorcycle patrol team followed up and arrested Musbau Ganiyu at a hideout inside the bush,” Omoyele said.

One of the suspects, Musbau Ganiyu, confessed to the crime, saying “I was arrested at Okinni. It’s true. We stole phones and money and we were caught. My arrest led to the arrest of other gang members.”

Omoyele said the suspects would be handed over to the police for prosecution.
