Ogun state governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, has failed to deliver his Local Government Area, Abeokuta South, for the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) governorship candidate, Adekunle Akinlade, who is the governor’s anointed successor.
The ruling APC gubernatorial candidate, Dapo Abiodun polled 19, 414 votes to defeat Akinlade who scored 18, 767 votes.
Amosun who had won Ogun Central Senate seat on the platform of APC in February 23 election, openly mobilised and worked for Akinlade’s candidacy.
Daily Trust reports that out of the eight council results of governorship announced so far, APC had won seven while APM won one.
However, the ongoing announcement at the state INEC office, Magbon, Abeokuta has been suspended till 12:30 pm to allow more LGs results to come in.
