Amosun absent as Osoba re-unites with Tinubu, Akande, others

Former governor of Ogun State, Aremo Olusegun Osoba, formally returned to the All Progressives Congress (APC) yesterday.
But the current Ogun governor, Ibikunle Amosun, was absent at the reconciliatory meeting held yesterday.
At the meeting held at Osoba’s residence in Ikoyi, APC chieftains, including National Leader, Senator Bola Tinubu, former Acting Chairman, Chief Bisi Akande, Governors Rauf Aregbesola (Osun) and Isiaka Ajimobi (Oyo) were all present.
Others were former Ekiti State governor, Niyi Adebayo, a former Deputy Governor of Ogun State, Segun Adesegun, Senator Gbenga Obadara and Deputy Governor of Lagos State Dr Oluranti Adebule.
Osoba told reporters at the end of the meeting: “Yes, I have returned to APC fully! I have returned fully!”
He sang a song which he said was a favourite of late Premier of the Western Region, Chief Obafemi Awolowo: “The quarrel is ‎over, Christ has earned a victory, we shall be singing the song of victory, halleluyah, halleluyah!”
Until yesterday, Osoba and Amosun had been in a bitter political battle over the soul of the APC in Ogun State. The feud climaxed when on the eve of the 2015 general elections, Osoba and his supporters joined forces with Social Democratic Party (SDP).
Asked about the sustainability of the reconciliation, with Governor Amosun’s absence at the meeting, Tinubu said: “Who told you we were fighting before?” He described the feud as media-made. He also expressed happiness with the reconciliation, describing it as a good development for progressive to have a common front.
Tinubu also described as mere ‎speculation reports that he had endorsed Akande for APC’s Board of Trustee (BoT).
