Amid scarcity, NSCDC intercepts truckload of 20,000 litres of PMS

Against the backdrop of petroleum products shortage, the anti-vandalism unit of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Kano State Command has intercepted a tanker loaded with premium motor spirit (PMS) along Ibrahim Taiwo road in the municipality.

According to Ibrahim Idris Abdullahi, the command’s spokesperson, the tanker was found to contain approximately 20,000 litres of PMS suspected to have been diverted from a filling station in Kano. It was en route to an undisclosed destination in the neighbouring state of Katsina.

“An investigation is underway, and upon conclusion, the petroleum product will be returned and offloaded at the original designated filling station in Kano. Legal action will be taken against the offenders,” Abdullahi stated.

In a separate operation prompted by complaints from traders at the scrap market located in Bachirawa Kwanar Ungogo, Ungogo Local Government Area, regarding miscreants terrorising the market through vandalism of public assets, theft of individuals’ property, and involvement in illicit drug dealings, a joint operation was launched.

This operation, involving NSCDC personnel from the armed squad unit and vigilantes, resulted in the arrest of over fifty (50) suspected criminals in the market.

“The command has initiated an investigation into the matter, and upon completion, the suspects will be prosecuted,” Abdullahi added.
