American Embassy opens skills enhancing centre at Unizik

American Embassy in Nigeria on Tuesday opened “Window on America”, a resource centre at the Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, the Anambra State capital.

It said Awka Window on America is designed to expose students and youths in the country to diverse opportunities in academic, economy, entreprenuership, as well as boost the relationship between the US and Nigerians.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Public Affairs Officer of American Embassy in Nigeria, Mr Stephen Ibelli, said that the centre would help to engage young people of the of the state , the university and Nigeria generally.

According to Ibelli, the Window has various facilities with high technological devices.

He noted that it would be run and maintained by highly disciplined staff according to the best international practices.

He said the centre will make use of online bookings and other services to speed-up services to the populace.

He further said that centre would focus on providing services to young people, educate, expose and empower them to explore various opportunities needed to thrive.

Earlier, the Vice Chancellor, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Prof. Charles Esimone, described the Awka Window on America as a worthwhile opportunity to reach out to outer world, while showcasing their students and staff talents and others.

He added that it was a stepping stone to accomplish his objectives to uplift the university to become among the 200 best universities in the world.
