“Principally we proposed certain amendments to the constitution of the party that will allow the party to function much more efficiently,” he said, adding that APC would hold an extraordinary convention on October 29 to submit the proposed amendments.
Mohammed stated that the amendments became necessary as the Electoral Act 2010 as amended, clearly states that no party will hold its primaries until it has produced a clear outline on how it will conduct the primaries in line with the electoral law and its constitution.
On the number of delegates that will participate in the party’s convention, he said the matter was one of the issues discussed as it was one of the contentious issues that some people have raised. “That is precisely why we say we need this electoral convention and before that convention we will conduct local government congresses at which delegates will be elected,” the APC spokesman stressed.
