Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON) has donated educational materials to 600 internally displaced children in both Girei and Fufore local government areas of Adamawa state.

Speaking at the flag-off of the project executed in collaboration with the Education Crisis Response (ECR) in Girei LGA, the Country Director of AMCON, Mr. Ayo Ilesanmi, said most of the beneficiaries are traumatized internally displaced children because they have seen what they should not have seen at their young age during the insurgency.

He added that the kids may pose danger to the general public if not given proper education.

In her remark, the Executive Director for ECR, Charity Duby said she has mainstreamed over 10,000 internally displaced children since the inception of the insurgency with support from some groups. She called on other donors to assist to sustain the project.

Also speaking, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education, Mahmud Abubakar, promised to give full support to AMCON in other to facilitate their work when the need arises for the sustainability of the programme.

The District Head of Girei, Dr, Ahmad Ibrahim said education is the foundation of success and urged the newly admitted pupils to make use of the reading materials AMCON provided efficiently.

Our reporter noticed that some school bags filled with text books and writing materials were presented to the students.

Similarly, some cooking materials and bags of grains were given to the parents of the internally displaced children.
