Residents of Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) have been urged to pay their taxes to enable the council fulfill its obligations.
The Senior Special Assistant to the Chairman of Abuja Municipal Area Council, (AMAC) on Tenement Rate and Monitoring,  Adamu Abari said residents will have to obey their civic responsibilities for the council to come out of the present financial crisis.
In a statement made available to City News,  Abari, who lamented the financial crisis facing the council, said the only way the council could carry out development programmes was to improve revenue generation.
He decried the attitude of the previous administrations, which he said was largely responsible for the poor response of the citizens to paying their tenement rates, assured that the present administration under the leadership of  Abdullahi Adamu Candido will judiciously manage whatever comes from the collection of tenement rates.
“There is no society that can develop without its citizens’ contributions, since the people are expecting the council to provide some basic social amenities such as clinics, schools, roads and electrification, then the people must pay their taxes and rates,” he said.
