Speaking when he received the Bayero University Kano Alumni Association in Minna, Babangida pledged to offer assistance in whatever ways he could.
Earlier in his remarks, president of the alumni association Muhammad Dattijo Usman said the visit to Babangida was informed by his concern for the educational development of the country.
He said Babangida’s regime in the 1980s and 90s was responsible for the introduction of educational programmes for the gifted and the nomads, saying the association intended to key in to the BUK plan by executing some projects of interest to the university community.
Usman added that the association would organise a fund-raising to source money for the projects.
