Akwa United forward, Alhassan ‘Muazam’ Ibrahim says the ‘Promise Keepers’ would not only be closed the gap on the table against their weekend hosts Plateau United but that Akwa United are primed for their first Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) glory.

A top of the table clash holds this Sunday in Jos where table toppers, Plateau United are home to third place Akwa United in what would affirm the title ambitions of the two clubs.

Muazam, who spoke ahead of the Sunday clash in Jos, is confident that his team still has what it takes to nick the title at the expense of table toppers, Plateau United and second placed MFM.

Muazam, who arrived Uyo from Wikki Tourists with Coach Abdu Maikaba at the start of the season, is the leading scorer for the ‘Promise Keepers’ with 11 goals in the NPFL. He told www.npfl.ng that at this point in the season, players of Akwa United are no longer hiding their ambitions.

“The most important thing is to continue the way we’ve performed since the beginning of the second stanza of the league.

So, our target is to win the league title and we will not give up that ambition until the end of the season. Though we started slowly at the beginning of the season, we have picked up and now understand ourselves perfectly.

“Our aspiration as a team is to add the league title to the FA Cup we won two seasons ago,” the former Wikki Tourists FC attacker stated.
