Algorand is passionate about training Nigerian Youths on Software development – Onuoha

Global Blockchain powerhouse, Algorand foundation has reaffirmed it’s commitment to train many Nigerian Youths on Software development and also equip them with new skills in blockchain technology

The country head for Algorand Foundation in Nigeria, Benjamin Onuoha, made this disclosure in Jalingo, while signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Taraba State Government for the training of Youths in Taraba State on Blockchain technology and Software development.

In his speech, Onuoha described blockchain technology as a very powerful technology that can be deployed to do a lot of things ranging from decentralized and secure identity management and information sharing in a secured and very fast manner.

He stated that Blockchain technology could be used to tackle the problem of piracy and counterfeiting by ascertaining the authenticity of goods produced in the Nigerian local manufacturing sector as well as in distribution chain management to reduce fraud and promote transparency.

He however emphasised that the main objective of the Taraba training programme is to train software developers in the state on how to create software solutions that would impact positively on the economy of the state and Nigeria generally.

Speaking at the event, the Taraba State Governor, Dr Agbu Kefas, who was represented by his
Deputy, Alhaji Aminu Alkali, thanked Algorand for coming through with the training programme for the benefit of young tech savvy Nigerians.

He stated that the state is ever willing to partner with a reputable organization like Algorand that can train and enhance the skills and capacities of youths in the state in technological innovations.

He also maintained that the MOU signed with Algorand will help to build more capacity for young people to thrive in the Blockchain space which would further impact positively on the growth of the state and national economy.

Taraba State Commissioner of Digital Economy and Innovation, Gideon Nonso, disclosed this during a training on blockchain technology organised by the Algorand Foundation.

Describing the training as timely, the Commissioner revealed that the state has already put machinery in motion to establish a technology village in the state which would serve as catalyst to technical advancement in the state.

He said Taraba is the second state in Nigeria after Plateau state to benefit from the training programme.
