ALERT: There are land grabbers around BUK, Kano govt warns residents

The Kano State Government has warned residents to be cautious of purchasing any land around Bayero University, Kano, as activities of land grabbers have been on the rise at the university’s property at Rimin-Zakara area of the state.

Giving the warning on Friday, Baffa Baba Dan-Agundi, the Chairman, Task Force on illegal structures, said it was alarming that some individuals have become emboldened to the point of invading the federal government land and selling same to unsuspecting members of the public.

He said the state government had noticed with dismay that some part of the property are being forcefully taken over by land speculators in the area.

“I called on the general public to avoid illegal land transactions on the university’s land by unaccredited land dealers, whoever does so would have himself to blame

“The government will not hesitate to pull down any illegal building or structure raised on the university property,” he warned.

DanAgundi said that the state government met with security agencies and the university management which confirmed that the people of Rimin-Zakara were not involved in the illegal deal and that the government has set up a committee to quickly look into the situation and bring all those involved in the illegalities to book.
