Some Internet scammers have been using a fake Facebook page for illegal activities on social media.
The page, which is a cloned version of Aminiya, the Hausa publication of Media Trust, has been copying stories from original Daily Trust platforms and posting other contents under the impression that they are from this media organisation.

The management of Media Trust Limited, the publisher of Daily Trust, Aminiya, and other titles and owner of Trust TV, has distanced itself from ‘Daily Trust Hausa’.
Findings by Daily Trust showed that this illegal page has gone to the extent of nominating people and giving them awards, all in the name of Media Trust.
Commenting on this untoward development, the Editor-in-Chief, Malam Naziru Mikailu, said, “These people have been getting out of hand, copying our stories and even giving awards to some people. We are using this medium to alert the public and dissociate our company from these unknown people. Our only known Facebook page in Hausa is Aminiya.”
“We encourage the public to help fight these scammers by unfollowing this fake page, stop sharing it and report their dubious activities to Facebook for necessary action.”
A formal complaint has been lodged to Facebook but no action had been taken as of the time of filing this report.
At the last check, the fake page had over 56,000 followers.
