Alabata community in Ibadan laments rape, killing of another lady

Residents of Alabata community, Akinyele local government, Oyo State, have sent a save-our-souls message to the Oyo State Police Command over the rape and killing of a 19-year-old girl, Mary Daramola.

The Balogun of Alabata, Chief Rasaq Ajimoti, alleged, in a chat with our correspondent said that a middle-aged man, whom he identified as Toheeb Ako, and some other persons at large raped and killed Daramola.

Ajimoti said the suspects were exposed by a passer-by, who he said raised an alarm when he saw Ako and his gang attempting to dump Daramola’s body in a bush.     Ako was said to have been arrested and taken to the Moniya police station, Akinyele local government,  Ibadan.

Daramola’s guardian, Mrs Folakemi Adedeji, urged the police to ensure justice in the matter.

The Baale of Alabata, Chief Olakanmi Olaniyan, appealed to the youths in the area to be calm over the incident, and  to the police to ensure that justice take its course.           The Police Public Relations Officer, Oyo State Command, Olugbenga Fadeyi, confirmed the rape and murder of Daramola.

Fadeyi told Daily Trust that the murder of Daramola had nothing to do with ritual killing, and confirmed that the suspects were already with the police and the case had been transferred to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Iyaganku, Ibadan.
