The overseer of Daddere Development Area in Obi Local government Area of Nasarawa State, Shehu Yakubu, has lauded Governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura for releasing N700 million for the construction of culverts and bridges across the state.
Yakubu said yesterday in an interview with newsmen in Daddere that the state governor released the funds to local governments and development areas in the state for the construction of bridges and culverts to ease movement of humans and farm produce and avert natural disaster during the raining season.
Yakubu said, “The money is not that from Paris Club. It is from Value Added Tax deducted from salaries. Some people allege that the VAT money is diverted but that allegation is totally untrue. The money is for developmental projects. He released the funds for the construction of bridges and culverts across the state, a good decision especially for us at the grassroots,” He said, adding that N21 million of the N700 million was given to Daddere development area.
