Governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura of Nasarawa state has approved the release of N300 million for the payment of pension and gratuity for retirees and families of deceased staff of the state civil service.
The state Head of Service, Thomas Ogiri, who disclosed this to newsmen in Lafia during a press conference, said those to benefit included widows and widowers of dead staff, the sick and the aged and people living with disabilities.
Ogiri explained that the money was sourced from the Paris Club remittance which accrued to the state, and that a committee consisting of two teams had been constituted to commence payment from today, April 12.
