In the 26th minute, the Promise Keepers got the first goal of the game through Charles Atshimene following an assist from Ikechukwu Nwani.
As the game wore on and with the visitors looking helpless, the home side doubled their lead just before the first half through the CAF Champions League 2016 top scorer, Mfon Udoh to end the game 2-0.
Following this victory, Akwa United have garnered 53 points from 28 games while Adamawa United remain rooted at the base of the table with 19 points from 28 games also.
