Youths under the aegis of Akwa Ibom Youths Mandate have kicked against what they described as an ‘imposition of candidate’ on the state.
There has been uproar in the state following Governor Udom Emmanuel’s unveiling of Mr Umo Eno, Commissioner for Lands and Water Resources, as his successor.

Many aspirants within the ranks of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have opposed the announcement by insisting on their own candidacy.
Speaking on Tuesday in Uyo, Mr Victor Thompson, speaker of the South South Youth Assembly, said the governor’s choice was not the will of the people.
Thompson urged youths in the state to choose a man that would be sympathetic to their course.
The group stated that the Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Judiciary, Mr Onofiok Luke, was the most suitable choice for a youthful governor, judging by his experience in governance and public service.
