Indigenes of Ini Local Government Area in Akwa Ibom State have received mini buses, over 500 bags of rice, cash grants and awards in celebration of the 30th anniversary of the council area.

Chairman of the council, Mr Israel Idaisin said the empowerment of men, women, and youths across the council areas with 15 mini buses, bags of rice, money and other items was to honour and reward the citizens who have achieved outstanding success in different walks of life.

“As our tradition, we will witness today life-touching empowerment aimed at lifting 15 families out of poverty, by giving them mini buses.

“Indeed our beloved Ini Local Government area is 30 years old today. I thank you all for believing in my administration and the leadership of Governor Udom Emmanuel.’’

He commended the residents for their contributions to peace, progress, tranquility and safety of lives and property, as well as government and private sector investments in the area.

“This administration from inception has empowered her citizens on various occasions, giving out motorcycles and other gift items capable of making life meaningful and comfortable,” he said.

The Deputy Governor, Mr Moses Ekpo, who commended  the chairman for the love he has for his people, urged other council chairmen to emulate his leadership style.

One of the awardees, Prof. Nyaudo Ndaeyo, Vice Chancellor of the University of Uyo, who responded on behalf of all the recipients commended the chairman for breaking records by setting the path in Ini Local Government Area to honour the citizens, saying the feat was uncommon.

Some of the beneficiaries expressed delight at receiving the items and commended the chairman for his efforts in the council area.
