Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State has approved the appointment of Kingsley Iwok as his Special Assistant Mobilization, Abuja.

According to a letter signed by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Prince Enobong Uwah, the appointment took effect from June 1, 2024.

“I am pleased to inform you that His Excellency, the Governor of Akwa Ibom State has approved your appointment as Special Assistant to the Governor (Mobilization, Abuja) with effect from 1st June, 2024.

“While hoping that you will render faithful and dedicated service to the Government of Akwa Ibom State to justify the confidence reposed in you, I wish to state that this is a political appointment,” the letter read in part.

Reacting, the Akwa Ibom community in Abuja, said the appointment was well deserved.

A statement issued by the Public Relations Officer of the Akwa Ibom Community, Abuja, Saturday Peter, said it came on the heels of the community ‘s agitation for inclusion in the governance structure of the state government.

“The appointee is an active member of the Community and has played various strategic roles towards the development of the Community for the period under review.

“Comrade Kingsley Iwok is equally the Secretary of Maintain Peace Movement (MPM), FCT – Abuja Chapter and a Ph.D Research Student with specialty on Political Economy and Development Studies at the University of Abuja.

“He is expected to bring on board his multifaceted experience, network, Capacity, as well as Liaison services on the Mobilization and inclusion of the Akwa Ibom Community, Abuja and all indigenes residents in the FCT – Abuja to the mainstream socio-economic, cultural and political activities of the Akwa Ibom State government,” the statement said

Meanwhile, the president, Barr Aniefiok Ibah on behalf of the entire community, while thanking Governor Eno for his consideration of the community’s recommendation, sought his continuous support to the programmes and aspirations of the Akwa Ibom Community, Abuja.
