Ondo State Governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, has tested negative for COVID-19.
This came five days after he announced that he tested positive.
Governor Akeredolu, in a state broadcast on Monday, said after spending days in isolation, doctors confirmed him negative after running the test twice.
Akeredolu urged residents of the state to always take precautions against the dreaded virus.
He said the government will continue the fight against the spread of the virus in the state.
In a related development, Governor Akeredolu has appointed Mr Temitayo Oluwatuyi as the Secretary to the State Government, SSG.
Oluwatuyi, an Akure indigene replaces Ifedayo Abegunde another Akure indigene who resigned as SSG Monday morning.
Until his appointment, Oluwatuyi was the commissioner for natural resources.
He also served as a commissioner under former governor, Dr Olusegun Mimiko.
Governor Akeredolu described him as a nice and hardworking person.
