Aiyedatiwa calls for investigation into PDP’s Ondo election remarks

Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has called for an investigation into statements made by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) regarding the upcoming November 16 governorship election.

Aiyedatiwa, the candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) for the election, accused PDP of planning to incite unrest ahead of the election.

In a statement issued by his campaign organisation and signed by spokesman Kayode Fasua, Aiyedatiwa alleged that PDP was reacting aggressively after its recent loss in the Edo State governorship election.

He described the PDP’s claim as “absurd and ridiculous,” claiming it signalled a plot to create chaos.

In response, PDP denied the accusations, asserting that it remains committed to peaceful and civil campaigning.

The party, however, warned Governor Aiyedatiwa against rigging the election, saying any attempt to do so could lead to unrest.

Ayo Fadaka, the spokesman for the PDP campaign, emphasised that the people of Ondo State would not tolerate electoral fraud. “Rigging is stealing,” he said, adding that any attempt to manipulate the election would backfire.

He further warned the ruling APC against pushing their luck, referencing public frustration with the party’s governance and policies.
