Aiyedatiwa approves N1.2b for backlog of pensioners’ gratuities

Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa Tuesday approved the sum of N1.2 billion to offset the gratuity of petitioners in the state public service.

The approval was disclosed in a statement by the press officer in the office of the state’s Head of Service, Sina Adeyeye, and made available to journalists in Akure.

The governor said the latest approval is to fully offset the gratuity of the 2014 set of retirees in the state civil service as part of efforts by the state government to settle all the backlog of arrears.

He revealed that the distribution of cheques to the beneficiaries would be flagged off at an event to be held at the Cocoa Conference Hall of the Governor’s Office, Alagbaka, Akure on Thursday, 11th January, 2024.

“This is apart from the N320m monthly, totalling about N2.7b yearly, that the government has set aside for the settlement of all other categories of the pensioners’ benefits,” the statement added.
