Aisha Buhari’s younger brother, Mahmud Halilu Ahmad popularly called Modi, has been conferred with a chieftaincy title in Adamawa Emirate Council.

The Lamido of Adamawa, Dr Muhammadu Barkindo Aliyu Mustapha, appointed Modi as Sarkin Gabas Adamawa yesterday at a ceremony attended by dignitaries from across Nigeria. The immediate past Sarkin Gabas and former minister of Education, Dauda Burma, died last year.

Modi had contested for the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship ticket in 2019 and lost to then incumbent governor, Muhammadu Jibrilla Bindow.

Also turbaned at the occasion was the National Vice Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the North East, Comrade Mustapha Salihu, as the Sa’i Adamawa.

Dignitaries that graced the occasion include National Leader of the APC, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, state governors Nasir El-Rufa’i (Kaduna); Badaru Abubakar (Jigawa); Atiku Bagudu (Kebbi); Kayode Fayemi (Ekiti); Speaker of Adamawa House of Assembly, Iya Abbas; Deputy Governor of Borno State, Umar Kadafur; and Niger Delta minister, Godswill Akpabio; among others.
