Aisha Buhari, Minister, others for Kwara Women’s Conference

First Lady Aisha Buhari is expected to lead other top women across the country to the Kwara Women Conference scheduled to hold Tuesday in Ilorin.

Other top dignitaries expected to grace the event include Minister of Women Affairs, Dame Pauline Tallen, her counterpart in the Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management, Mrs Sadiya Umar Farouq; Special, Adviser to the President on Economic Matters, Dr Sarah Alade; former presidential candidate, Mrs Sarah Jubril; and billionaire business tycoon, Hajia Bola Shagaya.

First Lady of Kwara State, Ambassador Olufolake Abdulrazaq will lead her colleagues from Nigeria’s First Ladies’ Forum.

The event will also be attended by prominent serving and retired public officers/civil servants, including former Chief Judge of Kwara State, Justice Raliat Elelu-Habeeb, among others.

Themed “Cracking the Glass Ceiling: the story of Kwara women”, the conference would discuss the way to mainstreaming gender inclusion within the state’s socio-economic and political environment.

Former chairman of First Bank of Nigeria and business mogul, Ibukun Awosika; United Nation’s Amina Mohammed; and National Missioner of the Ansaru-Ud-Deen Islamic Society of Nigeria, Sheikh Abdulrahman Ahmad; among other prominent personalities, are expected at the event.

According to a statement by the planning committee, the programme will acknowledge and appreciate the huge contributions of women to communities as well as encourage the Kwara girl child.

“The event is another in the series of the Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq administration’s efforts to mainstream gender parity, empower women, and build a society that truly gives everyone a fair chance”, the statement added.
