The 40 passengers had made the allegation of overbooking, but the airline, in a response to Daily Trust’s enquiry, said the flight departed with 91 empty seats.
In tweets on its handle @Meridiana in response to our correspondent’s enquiry, the airline maintained that the aircraft was not fully booked.
The response of the airline tallied with that of the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) which confirmed the passengers arrived late to the airport but advised to communicate with the airline for flight re-scheduling.
