The new king and queen of the air have emerged at the 2022 Nigeria Aviation Awards (NIGAV) Award, which was held at the Murtala Muhammed Airport (MMA), Lagos.
The new king of the air, Ikpa Elvis of Valuejet Airline and the queen of the air, Jennifer Nwankwo of Air Peace Airline, were selected during the grand finale of the NIGAV Awards 2022, an annual industry award celebrating excellence in aviation.
The king and queen of the air, which has a price tag of N1 million, was sponsored by Santos Aviation, a US-based aircraft interior refurbishing outfit.
The contest is for selecting Nigerian aviation ambassadors among the air hosts and hostesses from various airlines.

According to the organisers, the contest is to promote better inflight passengers’ experience and excellent onboard services from the cabin crew.
It is also to recognise the good work of cabin crews in air transport service delivery.
Winners went home with N1m and other gift items to become Nigerian air ambassadors for corporate social responsibility.
The ceremony was attended by the representative of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Minister of Aviation, heads of aviation parastatals and various stakeholders.
The Chairman of the organising committee, Mr Fortune Idu, explained that the king and queen would reign for a period of one year.
He said during the period, the winners will initiate and carry out a CSR programme starting with a NIGAV charity cash donation to the SOS Children’s Village and specific aviation safety-based ‘community awareness campaigns.’
