 Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State has said the Nigerian Air Force is no more entangled in tales of corruption.

He spoke on Thursday in Jos, Plateau State at the closing ceremony of the Nigerian Air Force Second Inter Command Combat Sports Competition ‘Jos 2017.’

He lamented that indiscipline and corruption nearly drowned the Air Force, stating that the Air Force is back to winning ways.

He said the current Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar has stopped the stealing of air force money.

He said: “gone are the days of hiding it in safety tanks and bank account of wives…we are seeing results to be different.”

He said: “In the past couple of days, the State (Plateau) has been agog with thrilling skills and talents showcased by the participants at the Competition.”

Bello added that various sporting events such as: taekwondo, judo, boxing, combat relay race, combat swimming and Shooting among many others were keenly vied for by the participants.

He said the excellent skills and talents showcased by the participants in the respective sporting events left no one in doubt of their capability.

He commended the CAS for initiating a workable and pragmatic vision for the Nigerian Air Force into a disciplined force through capacity building initiatives for effective, efficient and timely employment of air power.

 He noted that Focus on comradeship, regimentation and inter-Service cooperation are germane to the Inter-Command Combat Sports competition.

Speaking to journalists on the side line of the event, the CAS said the competition would bring about improved military skills amongst the competing commands which would enhance combat readiness.

At the end of the competition HQ-NAF won the competition after getting 9 goal medals while Training Command came second with 8 goal medals.
