The FCT chapter of the Association of Islamic Cooperatives Societies (AICSA) has organized a public lecture for its members in the territory.
The lecture was held on Saturday, with the theme “Financial Inclusion And Challenges of Muslim Ummah in Nigeria: The Role of Islamic Financial Institutions And Cooperative Societies.
Speaking at the seminar, the acting of chairman of the AICSA, Engineer Waheed Kolawole, said the public lecture was organized for the purpose of all Islamic cooperatives societies in the FCT to come together to deliberate and identify where there are challenges as well as to increase the inclusion of Muslims in the financial sectors in the territory.
He said many of the Muslims Ummah had deliberately not been participating in the financial space, saying some of the members believe it is not good for their faith.

According to him, 12 different cooperatives come together to organized the lecture, adding that AICSA’s main objective was to promote and advocate for Islamic financial inclusion for the Muslims Ummah in Abuja and Nigeria at large
Mohammed Mukhtar Adamu, a participant and member of the AICSA, said lecture had challenged him on how financial inclusion could be expanded.
