The All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN) has declared that the introduction of Agro-rangers by the Borno State governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, has become instrumental for farmers to access farming activities.
The state chairman of the AFAN, Ambassador Allamin Umara Lawan, stated this in Maiduguri during a one-day workshop for farmers and processors of gum Arabic, organised by the Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC), with the theme, ‘Ensuring Quality Gum Arabic Product for Export.

Lawan explained that a good number of farmers had returned to their farming activities due to the support and guidance of the agro-rangers that led to cultivation of thousands of hectares of farmlands.
“Farmers in Borno commended the giant effort of our dynamic governor introducing the agro-rangers, which gave our farmers access to farming over the years, and for his unprecedented projects in the state,” he said.
Speaking on the training of gum Arabic farmers, the chairman also commended the NEPC for building the capacity of farmers, adding, “The Nigeria Export Promotion Council has trained our members in various skills acquisition.
“Today, we are witnessing another programme for the training of members on gum Arabic. This training came at the right time when gum Arabic is highly recognised at the international market.”
