The Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC) has revealed that statistics have shown that in 2022 agricultural product worth about N31 billion informally left Nigerian borders to neighbouring countries, a development the council termed as a huge loss to the Nigerian economy.
This was disclosed by North-West NEPC Regional Coordinator, Mr Salami Moruff Akinshola during a one-day interactive session between the Executive Director/Chief Executive Officer of NEPC and exporters in the North-West region held in Kano state. According to him, the interactive session is aimed at providing a level playing ground for the exporters to bring out issues and bottlenecks being faced to address them for a better business atmosphere.
He added that it is the mandate of NEPC to ensure the smooth operation of exportation as well as promote export activities that will increase the nation’s GDP.
