The Institute of Agribusiness Management of Nigeria (IAMN) in collaboration with 2SCALE programme launched an “Inclusive Agribusiness Club,” a network of agribusiness stakeholders with the purpose of exchanging and managing knowledge and techniques aimed at promoting an inclusive agribusiness awareness and practice in Nigeria.

The club, which was launched in Abuja brings together all the stakeholders in the agricultural value chain.

2SCALE, a programme funded by the Dutch government across 10 African countries is designed to nurture and accelerate ‘Inclusive business development in African agri-food systems.

The 2SCALE Program Director in Nigeria, Ms. Marina Diboma, said the programme provides a range of support services that are provided by private partners—companies and farmer groups—in order to assist them in producing, transforming, and supplying high-quality food products to local, national, and regional end-user markets, including those at the bottom of the food chain pyramid.

“In Nigeria since 2012, 2SCALE has supported over 25 companies to drive and include inclusion in their agribusiness practices. The program supported and carried out its implementation with agribusiness champions in over 20 states in four food sectors:

“Staples sector with Psaltry International in Oyo state, MIVA Rice Company in Benue state, and Cassava with Psaltry International is one of the largest cassava processors in Nigeria. 2SCALE supported this female-led company to integrate over 10,000 smallholder farmers into the supply chain.

“Dairy and Animal protein sector: we have supported Friesland Campina Wamco one of the largest dairy in Nigeria to include about 10,000 smallholder Fulani milk pastoralists in the inclusive agribusiness idea. This business idea was developed to improve local sourcing of milk at the same time develop dairy business and practices in Nigeria. We are currently replicating this with Nestle Nigeria,” Ms. Diboma said.

The initiative collaborates with many actors in the oil seed industry as well as other organizations in the horticulture sector to promote the manufacture of white onion powder.
