The elections come up on 3rd March, 2023 in Benin City and the former Nigeria International is among the 19 contestants vying for various positions in the football Association in the state.

Aghahowa is one of 19 candidates seeking for seats in the Edo State Football Association.

SPONSOR AD

Aghahowa, known for his acrobatic goal celebrations during his playing days, has been active with football intermediary positions as well as sponsoring local football events in Edo State after his retirement.

In October 2022, the former Shaktar Donetsk striker organized a Super four tournament in Benin City, with cash awards on the line.

Aghahowa’s expertise and reputation as one of Nigeria’s most prolific strikers adds spice to what is sure to be a hotly contested election, especially with four candidates running for the Chairmanship position.

Roland Abu, the current head of the Edo State Football Association, Victor Teddy Egbon, Johnbull Edosomwan, and Fred Newton have all been permitted to run for the job.
