The Accountant-General of the Federation (AGF), Ahmed Idris, has said federal government’s Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) that are yet to move their payroll to IPPIS should be ready to face the consequences.

A statement issued by Mr Johnson Oise, Head, Press and Public Relations on Friday in Abuja, said Idris gave the warning when Mr Abubakar Adamu, the Acting Inspector-General of Police (IGP) visited him.

Idris said that the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation (OAGF) would leave no stone unturned in ensuring that the President’s directive to enroll all public servants on the Integrated Personnel Payroll Information System (IPPIS) was fully complied with.

He commended the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) for showing example by complying with the directive of the President.

“I want to place on record that the Nigerian Police has been fully integrated into the IPPIS platform and their successful enrollment has paved way for the enrollment of the Nigerian military.

“This has further demonstrated the robustness of the platform and our avowed commitment to a transparent, accountable and efficient management of the nation’s funds in line with global best practices.”

Idris also congratulated Adamu on his appointment, describing it as well deserved given his sterling qualities and performances so far in office.

The AGF said that considering the enormous role the Nigeria Police plays in maintaining peace and security in the country, there was the need for it to be supported with adequate funding.

He assured the IGP of the continued support of the OAGF in ensuring that all approvals due to the Force are released on time to enable it effectively deliver on its mandate to the Nigerian people.

The IGP had earlier extolled the cordial relationship existing between the Nigerian Police and the OAGF, describing it as “a very strategic partnership in the business of policing the nation”.

He commended the AGF for his exemplary leadership, which he said, had culminated in the effective implementation of the various financial reforms which had helped the Nigerian police in meeting most of its financial challenges.

Adamu, however, called for more collaboration between the OAGF and the Nigerian Police. (NAN)
