AGF approves sack, prosecution of 35 SARS operatives 

The Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami (SAN) of Nigeria has been presented with the list of 35 operatives of the defunct Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) who have been recommended for dismissal from the Nigeria Police.

The Executive Secretary of the National Human Rights Commission(NHRC), Tony Ojukwu on Monday presented the 35 operatives to the AGF saying the list was drawn from 12 states and the FCT.

Briefing newsmen, Ojukwu said the affected SARS operatives were indicted in offences bordering on extrajudicial killings, unlawful arrest and detention, threat and intimidation, unfounded allegations, seizure of properties and illegal freezing of accounts of innocent citizens.

The details offered the recommendation of the NHRC investigation panel were attached to large documents submitted to the AGF as prepared by the panel.
