The Director-General and Chief Executive Officer of the National Institute of Pharmaceutical Research and Development (NIPRD), Dr Obi Peter Adigwe, has stressed the need for government and well-to-do individuals to foot the bills of claims of efficacy of the medical products by traditional medicine practitioners.
Adigwe, represented by his Senior Special Assistant (Technical), Dr Abubakar Danraka, made the remark at the opening of a three-day training programme on phytomedicine organised by the institute in Dutse, the Jigawa State capital.
He said the gesture would not only help in easing the burden of subjecting their claims to clinical laboratory test, but would also encourage the abundance of alternative medicine in the country to fight some specific ailments.
