A former Deputy Governor of Nasarawa State, Hon. Silas Agara, has cautioned against calls for the sack of the board of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) following the failure of the Super Eagles to qualify for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
Speaking to Daily Trust Saturday, the president of Nigeria Karate Federation said even as Nigerians are angry over the sporting mishap, they shouldn’t throw out the baby with the bathwater.

“I cannot call for the sack of the NFF because as a federation president, I know what it takes to constitute a board. Instead we should encourage the federation to get the right hands that would help us execute future tournaments.
“It is painful that we didn’t do too well at the AFCON and we have failed to qualify for the World Cup but rather than call for the sack of the NFF board, I think they should be encouraged to look inwards for solutions to problems in Nigerian football,” he advised.
The former Commissioner of Sports in Nasarawa State, however, agreed that the Super Eagles were too lackadaisical against the Black Stars.
He also wondered why the crucial match was played in Abuja which he said has not been a fertile hunting ground for the Super Eagles.
“Something must have gone wrong somewhere because the team was not physically and tactically ready. The Ghanaians were hungrier than us.
“For some reasons, Abuja was not ripe for that match. The facility in Abuja had just been upgraded and the Eagles were yet to adapt to its new condition.
“So we should ask ourselves which environment favours us the most. I think playing the match in Abuja was a mistake,” he said
