Reno Omokri, a former presidential aide, has fired yet another shot at Rufai Oseni, co-host of Arise TV morning Show, over the academic record of President Bola Tinubu.
Omokri and Oseni have been in the new over this issue, which has formed a major part of the outcome of the 2023 presidential election.
Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in the election, is currently in court seeking a proof that Tinubu attended the school.
In a series of posts on his handle on X, formerly Twitter, Omokri said that contrary to the journalist’s claims that the institution never denied Tinubu being its former student.
“Rufai Oseni, a presenter on AriseTV’s The Morning Show, stirred the hornet’s nest when he claimed on Tuesday, November 22, 2022, that Chicago State University was hit with a subpoena, and based on that document, they disclaimed Bola Tinubu’s academic records,” Omokri said in a post.
“This was three months before the Presidential election. Mr. Oseni then claimed on air that he had sourced that ‘fact’ from The Vanguard newspaper.
“Chicago State University, however, deposed to an affidavit on August 23, 2023, upholding Mr. Tinubu’s academic standing as a former student and graduate of the school.”
Oseni has refrained from making further comments on the issue but Omokri challenged him to “correct this non-factual statement made and passed off as news to the Nigerian public”.
Several Nigerians, including US-based professor Farooq Kperogi, have published documents they received from Chicago State University affirming that Tinubu attended and graduated from the university.
Omokri’s tweets come on the eve of the verdict of the tribunal on the presidential election.
