Again kidnappers abduct 3 in Niger community

Kidnappers have abducted three persons in another fresh attack in the early hours of Wednesday, at Bwari–Sabo, Tafa Local Government Council of Niger State.

The abduction is coming barely 48 hours after gunmen invaded the community in the early hours of Monday, and killed a former chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) of Tafa Local Government, Ishaya Solomon, and abducted his wife.

A resident of the area, identified as Joshua Alfred, said the incident happened around 12am when the kidnappers invaded the community amidst sporadic gun shots.

He said the entire community was thrown into panic because of the sporadic gunshots that broke the stillness of the night, adding that “In fact, some residents who were sleeping outside their rooms because of the heat were forced to run into their houses to avoid being hit by stray bullets.”

The chairman of Tafa Local Government Council, Ibrahim Mami Ijah, confirmed the abduction of the three persons in Bwari-Sabo, even as he declined to speak further.

The spokesman of the Niger State police command, DSP Wasiu Abiodun, was yet to pick calls or reply to text message sent him to confirm the latest kidnap incident.
