Barely 48 hours after eight persons sustained injuries during a clash between herders and farmers in Paikon-Kore community in Gwagwalada Area Council of the FCT, two farmers have been injured by suspected herders in another clash in Dafa village in Kwali Area Council.

A resident, Sumaila Yahaya, said the incident happened on Tuesday around 11am when some herders moved their cows into a farm.

He said the owner of the farm and one other person who were working on the farm approached the herders and queried them for allowing cows to graze on the farm.

He explained that, “As the farmers were querying the herders, one of the herders brought out a cutlass and inflicted injuries on the farmers.”

The Village Head of Dafa, Alhaji Mohammed A. Kajiya, who confirmed the incident through telephone to our reporter on Wednesday, said, “Actually, the victims were also working in their farms when they discovered that there was a misunderstanding between another farmer whose crops were destroyed and decided to separate the quarrel. One of the herders in the process attacked and inflicted injuries on them.”

The spokeswoman of the FCT Police Command, DSP Adeh Josephine, was yet to confirm the incident.
