Barawa community is about 10 kilometres away from Katsina city.
Unconfirmed reports indicate that a number of residents were also kidnapped during the incident while other reports had it that the residents were only dispersed with gunshots.
“They didn’t kidnap anyone but killed four people; three men and an elderly woman.
“Several others have been wounded by the bandits,” a resident said.
“When the bandits dispersed half of the people of the community, they conducted a house to house and shop to shop looting.
“They looted all the shops in the community and went away with goats and sheep left behind by the traumatized residents,” the source said.
“We have buried the four people killed this morning and a lot of people have been severely wounded by the bandits,” another resident said.
The Katsina State Police Command’s spokesman, SP Gambo Isa, did not confirm the attack as of the time of filing this report.
However, Daily Trust gathered that the Katsina State Commissioner for Sports and Social Development, Sani Danlami, confirmed the attack, saying the state government had provided relief materials to the wounded and the families of those killed.
