Again doctors postpone surgery on 4-year-old boy without anus

Doctors at Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital had, last Friday, postponed surgery of Saidu, a four-year old boy without anus from  Potiskum Local Government Area of Yobe State.

The child’s father, Mohammed Babi, told our reporter that the postponement followed an examination by a doctor which revealed that the child has lost weight as a result of the illness he passed through recently.

He said the doctors recommended some medication and gave an instruction to put  the child on diet for another 10 days.

Saidu has been passing excreta with the help of tubes inserted by doctors since he was two weeks old.

The child’s case was first reported on Kanem Trust after an appeal by his father on December 13, 2019, after which some good samaritans offered to foot the bill of his medical expenses.

“We were asked to watch after his health and hygiene and return to the hospital on December 20.

“It is a trying time for us but we sincerely thank our donor and the doctor for their tireless effort to help us achieve this.”
