Again, court convicts 6 students for cybercrime in Kwara

Justice Evelyn Anyadike of the Federal High Court sitting in Ilorin, Kwara State has convicted another set of six people for internet fraud.

This is the second time in two days that the court will convict six persons over cyber fraud.

The convicts were part of the 50 suspects, which comprised 48 students of the Kwara State University (KWASU) and two residents of Malete who were arrested during a sting operation by operatives of the EFCC in February.

The fresh convicts are Ismail Abdulbasit, Oladipo Victor, Ibrahim Oluwatosin, Ayantola Segun Samuel, Musbau Waris Atomo and Babalola Rasaq Oluwadamilare from Kogi, Kwara and Ogun states.

They were convicted and sentenced to various jail terms.

Innocent Mbachie and Charles Oni prosecuted the case on behalf of the commission.

In her judgement, Justice Anyadike gave them various options for fines and ordered the forfeiture of the money recovered to the federal government as restitution.
