Again, bandits shoot herder in Abuja

Barely five days after bandits killed a herder, Ado Mamman, at a Fulani settlement in Pai community of Kwali Area Council of the FCT, another herder, Isah Muhammadu, has been shot death by bandits at Rafin – Zurfi community in Gwagwalada Area Council.

A resident of Rafin -Zurfi, Yahaya Awwalu, said the incident happened in the early hours of Thursday, when some bandits wielding sophisticated weapons attacked a Fulani settlement in the community.

He said the bandits killed the 20-year -old man and left without abducting anyone.

The Secretary of Gwagwalada area council branch of the Miyyetti Allah Cattle Breaders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), Mohammed Usman, confirmed the killing of the herder in a telephone conversation with our reporter.

“When I arrived the village after receiving the information, I learnt that the bandits actually missed their target and wrongly killed the man, while their main target escaped,” he said.

He said the deceased, who was a visitor, has been buried, adding that he has reported the incident at the Gwagwalada police area command.

As at the time of filling this report yesterday, the FCT police command was yet to confirm the latest incident as there was no reply to text message sent to the command.
